Boundary Waters

Meanwhile back at home while we vacationed in Italy...

Dan and Carson went ahead with plans to canoe the Boundary Waters, even though the YM group cancelled due to Covid going through the leaders and boys. They planned the meals and shopped for the food and ate well.

Carson's friend from high school had never camped and doesn't know how to swim but was up for an adventure. I thought they should start him out with a small overnight camping trip, but instead they went full out with a 5-day camping and canoeing trip completely off the grid near Canada. I was worried he didn't know what he said yes to, and then he wouldn't be able to back out once he realized it, but Dan and Carson tell me he had a wonderful time. They portaged a few times, stayed at different campsites each night, and traversed many lakes in the Boundary Waters.

The area looks beautiful. Carson is in his element while camping, hiking, and rowing. He really likes the Boundary Waters, and he last went with Dan and Colby two summers ago during the 2020 pandemic. I'm glad he got another experience and could bring his friend along, and that Dan made it happen.
