Carson didn't know which temple to choose. Minnesota's temple has been closed for months as it's being remodeled. Tucson's closes next week and will be cleaned for a few weeks. He looked at all the closest Utah temples, and then one day while we were in Utah, he chose the Jordan River temple and what he thought was a random time and random day.
There was another man going through for the first time, and Dan and Carson visited with him. I wasn't there for this part, but they told me about it later. This man's been going to church for 40 years and was finally baptized this past December. His son was his escort at the temple, and his wife and daughter would be joining him for the session. As they visited, this man asked Carson where he was going to serve his mission, and when Carson said Salt Lake City, this man was surprised and then turned to his son and said, "Should we tell them?" Then he shared that his long-time close friends were going to be there in the session with him, ..... and they are the Salt Lake City mission president and his wife. Carson, Dan, Leah, and I were able to meet them later and visit for a long time, and they're fantastic, and Carson needed that, and we needed that, and now we can peacefully send him off to these great people who will take care of him. It was amazing. We talked with them and with the man about all the things that lined up just right to run into them at that exact day and time and place. It was not a coincidence.
